Citgo Litigation
This litigation involves multiple cases arising from a release of approximately 50,000 barrels of slop oil from the Citgo facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Several tens of thousands of barrels of slop oil flooded into the ship channel and surrounding bayous, lakes and other water bodies, necessitating an order from the United States Coast Guard, closing the ship channel to commercial marine traffic for up to nine days. The firm represents a number of landowners whose property was contaminated by the slop oil, as well as, several hundred individuals for personal injury claims. The release occurred in June, 2006 and trials are scheduled to begin in 2009.
