UNAUTHORIZED PHONE BILL CHARGES
Our firm is currently investigating the billing practices of many telephone communication carriers. These companies are engaged in the practice of bundling unauthorized charges, taking the steps necessary to have them placed on the local phone bills of individuals and businesses, and collecting payments for services that were never requested. This practice is called “cramming,” and is defined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as the practice of placing unauthorized charges on telephone bills.
Within this fraudulent scheme, customers are charged on their telephone bills for third party service subscriptions such as voicemail, internet access, web hosting providers, wall paper, screensavers, yellow page listings and many other services. These third party service providers are billing clearinghouses that process phone billed transactions on behalf of vendors. However, most customers never requested, authorized or even knew about these charges.
Pendley, Baudin & Coffin, LLP is currently evaluating cases related to these fraudulent practices of many telephone carriers.
